The Editor's Review - Dating Trail Official Verdict!
AsianD8online is the online dating arm of AsianD8 events, organisers of The Infamous Gherkin Lock Party amongst other highly popular dating events up and down the UK. As the name suggests this site (and it's associated events) are designed to appeal primarily to Asian singles.
Overview
First impressions are all important and AsianD8online doesn't fail to impress. Visitors are greeted with a clean, stylish site layout. Navigation is clear and despite a fair amount of information on the main page, all the required functions are obvious to the user. Unlike many online dating sites it's possible as a non member to conduct a search that not only provides photos of your potential matches but a brief summary of their profile information too. We liked this feature as very few sites offer this and it really helps you get a feel for the site and the calibre of its members before you part with so much as your email address, let alone your card details. Great for inspiring buyer confidence, we noted.
As with many sites, AsianD8online offers a quick signup option that has your basic account created in minutes. Naturally, you will have to return back to complete the vital personality profile data at a later time.
Once in, you are greeted with your personalised home screen. Again, the layout and navigation is straight forward and the design, impressively clear. You are presented with a summary box which outlines the status of your account since your last login. You'll find any member messages here and the pre-cursor to those, which on this site are known as 'waves'. Whist it's only semantics, this reviewer preferred the term 'wave' as opposed over the somehow sleazier sounding 'wink' employed by most other online dating sites. Below this dialogue box the site proffers a selection of six or so pre-selected member profiles for you to get started with. These members are matched with you on the basis of your answers to the initial signup questions. We found this to be a useful feature for the newly signed up member.
Further down you'll see a list of the live events organised by the company. Following a link to any of these event allows for seamless signup process although it was noted that the reviewer was required to re-enter some personal information which had already been added when creating the online profile. Not a major problem at all. As a member of the online site you are automatically entitled to a discount on event tickets.
The member search facility is similar to many sites, offering a normal and advanced search function. There is a further option know as a 'quick flick' search. This provides member profile results in a user-friendly slide show format. Don't like what you see? Simply 'quick flick' and the next profile slides in from the right as if by magic. Something we'd not seen before and that could be valuable, in particular for those more concerned by looks than what's been written on someone's profile.
The search preferences allow for the usual specs, geographical radius and age range as well as preferences based upon religion, career type and a great many more.
The membership of the site comprises mainly of young professionals aged up to 35. Whist there were members older than this the choice was very limited during our review.
The overall impression of the membership base is that they are largely young professionals, many attractive, many in successful careers. This seems to follow with the overall branding and feel of the site.
It should also be noted AsianD8online offers a free iPhone application. The app offers the member on the move the ability to search, wave and message whist also uploading photos along with clever geographic (GPS) searches based on your specific location. Great for those with an iPhone but perhaps the company should investigate opening up this useful application to members on other mobile platforms.
We found and noted a growing blog section and reassurance was given via the detailed FAQs pages. A view of the 'Contact Us' page displayed not only the standard contact form but very importantly the companies postal address and the all important phone number. Full marks for that. An address, let alone a phone number is rarity on many an online dating site.

We've reviewed a great many online dating sites at Dating Trail but AsianD8online is amongst the most complete we've seen. A pleasant user interface, intelligent features and confidence inspiring touches give this reviewer no option but to award the full five stars.
